The Guys

The Embryonics consist of two teams. The 'Three Amigos' of Chop, Beast and Phil. These guys are the three founders of the Embryonics. We originally came together because we are close friends (in one way or another) and so The Embryonic Adults came to be. Beast came up with the name and then took great offence to it being for a punk band with the line up of Chop on vox, Ed on guitar, Phil on drums and Mini Chop on bass. The founding three used their somewhat dubious talents to make a fairly loose interpretation of comedy. This mainly took the form of the "Reality Bites" video. The 'test' copy was received well by people who seemed to find it very funny (even tho Phil has no grasp of comedy timing and made a bodge it and scarper job of the editing). This video has never really seen the light of day due to someone who shall remain namephilless dropped the camera and buggered the editing up then promptly deleting the file. It was scheduled to be re-filmed but the same person fucked the camera and wouldn't fix it.

Anyway, a line up change for the band came next as Mini Chop left and Bob stepped in. This was a time of great tension in the band as said new bassist wound everybody up over the creation of music (refusing to believe that they were a hardcore punk band and that his 'twiddly' bass lines were not actually fitting and/or of any great importance). It has been said and admitted by the band that Ed is the musical force behind the band. He does a riff then Chop shouts some and then the bass and drums fall into line. This has made for a sound that we feel is very strong because all the instruments are going in the same direction. Bob didn't see it this way and after offending and hurting each band members and all our friends was promptly sent packing. He is what we call an anus face. Then along comes Min who saved us from splittage (in a non ring way) and was trained up in 6 hours to play a gig. The bass lines changed to fit the songs, a happier band and a peeved ex bassist later and the Embryonics were at it again.

The projects up for filming were never completed due to a knackered camera. So thus "Reality Bites", "Night of the Living Zombie Nerd Bastards", "The Embryonic Witch Project", "Lord of the Ring Splitters - The Fellowship of Chop's Ring" and "Don't Push the Big Red Button" never made it to any form of VHS or MPEG format.

The Embryonics took to the Derby scene like a dog to a leg and played a good few gigs at venues such as The Vic, Raffles and Ponce In The Park, causing offence, distaste, hilarity, loud swearing and general annoyance (not many people took to their brand of hardcore punk as much as if they'd jumped on a ska or so cal band wagon. Wankers.).

So where next? Phil and Ed have gone to distant unis, Chop has got a proper job, Min is still in school. This means that the band will play an odd gig here and there. It also means Chop and Min have formed the Dirty Stains, an old school punk band. Beast is still cranking out hilarious stuff while in uni. Speaking of which, his long promised Bible II summary will be here soon.
